Definition:

Formula:The formula is : Subject + to be + Verb 3 ( Past Participle ).

Example :

The house was built in 1654 (= we are interested with the house, not in who built it.)

The road is being repaired. (= we are interested with the road, not in who did the repair.)

  • I noticed that a window had been left open.
  • Every year thousands of people are killed on our roads.
  • All the cookies have been eaten.
  • My car has been stolen!


But, the to be can be adjusted according to tense. For the example :

1. Simple Present: am/is/are + pp, ex( is created)
2. Present Continuous: am/is/are being + pp ex(is being created)
3. Simple Past: was/were + pp, ex(was created)
4. Past Continuous: was/were being + pp ex(was being created)
5. Present Perfect: has/have been + pp, ex (has been created)
6. Past Perfect: had been + pp, ex( had been created)
7. Simple Future: will be + pp, ex(will be created)
8. Future Continuous: am/is/are going to be + pp, ex(is going to be created)
9. Future Perfect : will have been + pp, ex(will have been created)



Dialogue:

Yoga : Hello Rizqi.
Rizqi : Hi Yoga.
Yoga : Have you written the poetry assigned by the teacher?
Rizqi : The poetry has been written, I just have to send it to the teacher. How about you ?
Yoga : The poetry has been sent to the teacher. I finished it yesterday.
Rizqi : Ok, bye.
Yoga: Bye.
