 Explanation Text Explanation text is a text that contains the process of why and how natural, scientific, social, cultural, and other events can occur. The purpose of explanation text is to explain the stages, steps, or processes (how), and provide reasons (why). The characteristics of the explanation text is : -Using the Simple Present Tense -Using Action Verbs -Using Passive Voices -Using Noun Phrases -Using Technical Terms Generic Structure of Explanation Text: General Statement Contains general information on topics to be discussed in the text. Explanation Contains a series of events (sequence of events) from a process which is the topic of the text.  Cause and effect Cause (noun)   someone or something that makes things happen. Example :  The  cause  of the flood was the massive of amount garbage thrown in the river. (verb)   an activity that makes things happen. Example :  The massive amount of garbage thrown in the river  caused  the flood. Effect (noun)   a change that is the result of an activity or cause. Example :  The rain had an  effect  on her mood. Affect When effect is used as a verb, it changes to affect. (verb)  to produce an effect; cause something to happen.
